City of Prineville Railway making noticeable progress

Since the decline of the timber industry in central Oregon, to say that the City of Prineville Railroad has struggled would be an understatement.
The railroad was once happily burdened with rail traffic that they can only dream about today.
However, progress is being made. COPR General Manager Dan Lovelady has made great strides in not only increasing the traffic on the railroad, but also in cleaning up the facility and its associated equipment.
Is there a lot of work yet to be done? Absolutely.
However, the increased revenues and the possibility of COPR breaking even are big steps in the right direction.
We commend the work of the City of Prineville, the COP Railroad, and Dan Lovelady. It is our hope that the future of the railroad includes even more growth, which will add to the marketability of Prineville and Crook County in general for interested businesses.
