Friends, co-workers, and family are pulling together to raise funds for Alice Schmidt.
Having been diagnosed with viral encephalitis, Schmidt was recently hospitalized at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.
Schmidt worked at the Carriage House in Prineville as a management assistant.
"I couldn't do my job without her," said Suzanne Travis, manager of Carriage House.
Travis has been instrumental in organizing fund-raisers for Schmidt.
This Saturday, a benefit pancake breakfast will be held at the Carriage House, 150 S. Williamson. Cost for the breakfast, which is scheduled for 6-10 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, is $3 per plate and includes pancakes, sausage, bacon, coffee, and juice.
Carriage House staff members will be donating their time to run the breakfast event.
Travis said that an account has been set up at U.S. Bank in Schmidt's name for anyone wishing to donate funds.
A quilt will also be auctioned off as a fundraiser. The handmade quilt "Snowflakes for Alice" has been donated by Carmen and Ray Dorshimer. Tickets for the raffle are $5, with the drawing set for Aug. 31.
