Just now as we all prepare to settle our individual tax obligations to "Uncle Sam," the United States of America, our illustrious President's proposed budget flags in our faces. Let's take a closer look at what President Bush finds more important and what he chooses to ignore as trivial for government support. The President George W. Bush federal budget cuts education and Medicare while offering a whopping $1.35 trillion tax cut over the next decade that is aimed at the very wealthy. At a time when many folks are struggling to make ends meet, that's just not right. He even leaves out funding promised to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast following damages from Hurricane Katrina! The Bush tax cuts for the rich are a cruel insult while the rest of us are making sacrifices. No more! Congress should reject the budget, and if it doesn't, voters must reconsider which senators and congressmen/women to vote for in November. It's clear that the budget is a failure. Now it's up to Congress to set things right. Republican members of Congress need to stand up to Bush on behalf of the middle-class folks whose services will be cut. And if they don't, they should lose their jobs with voters throwing them out of office this November. Personally, I am sick and tired of watching the ultra-rich be flaunted in our faces with pampering tax cuts while we work together to pick up the pieces for the underprivileged. Our underprivileged children without health care and education; the underprivileged students trying to get an education to make a living (a what?) to find public education priced beyond reach; the underprivileged working fathers and mothers with sub-living wages and no health care; the underprivileged senior citizens with funding literally stolen out of Medicare - their proposed life savings in many cases -and virtually no health care and a totally bogus prescription "plan" (what a joke!); underprivileged U.S. veterans who have given all to find they now have virtually nothing - not even respect from the government as it chooses not to honor promises made. Let's see: that covers just about all of us, doesn't it? Ladies and gentlemen of the underprivileged forces mentioned above, take your "privilege" of being a voter in a free country seriously this November. Dare to unseat those who refuse to represent you as promised. Sure! It's tough to make choices but the choice is for you and your family and all you hold dear. What choice is there but to clean house? Do your homework and vote, hoping one more time for those who have the courage to represent you for a better life, a better America.
