The first on 4th Street Jams sets the pace for summer fun

The band played on while folks took the opportunity to hit the dance floor during the first 4th Street Jam held on Saturday.

The first of four 4th Street Jam events planned for this summer got off to a good start this past weekend.
Although a persistant breeze combined with cooling temperatures caused the show to shut down earlier than planned, overall the event got off to a great start.
The focalpoint of the 1st on 4th Jam highlighted acoustic music featuring local musicians, several craft and food booths along with a beer garden hosted by the Vets Club.
The event is the brainchild of local business owner James Shank of Shank's Art and Book Gallery. The motivation is to create a flow of foot traffic to the businesses downtown and to give the community something fun to do on Saturday evenings, once a month.
Enthusiastic over Saturday evening's turnout Shank reports that and estimated 350 to 400 people dropped by to check things out, walked through the stores and partook of the cuisine offered by the Chamber of Commerce.
"I know that the merchants who were open did very well," Shank said. He added that a number of enquiries by interested vendors will likely lead to an even larger turnout for the Jam set for July 6. "I suspect that we will have double or more than double the booths out there for the July event."
The Chamber of Commerce sponsored 4th Street Jam set for July 6 is sure to offer more music, more vendor booths, more food and more fun.
For more information call the Chamber of Commerce at 447-6304.
