| A little bit of Italy |

Every single night this past week I've been glued to the TV, watching the Olympics. I've never been athletic and if I have a competitive bone in my body it's a tiny, little, deformed bone. That doesn't mean I can't appreciate the games. I watch the events with awe and apprehension, though. Every time I watch skiing, especially that mogul event, every joint in my body screams in empathetic pain. That just looks like it hurts. I love figure skating, although I'm still having trouble understanding the new scoring system. I hated to see Michelle Kwan drop out because she epitomizes everything good about that sport. I hold my breath with every jump and throw, and my heart breaks if anyone falls. I may not know how to do those things but I can imagine what it must feel like when things don't go as planned. Still, it must be the thrill of their young lives to be in Italy. Can you imagine? I liked Shaun White, the red-haired young guy who won the half pipe snowboarding event. You could tell he was just having a good time, and who can blame him. And Italy must be a beautiful country to visit. Even more interesting to me than the scenery is the food because I absolutely love Italian food. I could probably eat my way through the Olympics, taking time out every now and then to watch one of the events, of course. It seems appropriate, then, to feature an Italian recipe this week. Spaghetti Bolognaise comes from my sister-in-law Lori, who married into an Italian family. I love to spend time with the women in that family. They laugh a lot and talk a lot, and I'm dying to get in the kitchen with any one of them. I've never had the opportunity, but if that day ever comes, I'll be in culinary heaven because I think they're all good cooks. Lori certainly is, and I made sure I didn't leave Pennsylvania this past winter without a couple of her recipes. I'm happy to share this one with you. Ciao, baby!
