Alice Kleinke

Alice May (Wilson) Neiger Kleinke, a Madras resident, passed away on Nov. 19, 2006, at Mt. View Living Center in Madras, Ore. She was 98 years old.
Private funeral services were held Nov. 21, 2006 at Hillside Cemetery in Nyssa, Oregon.
Alice was born in Fargo, Oklahoma on Sept. 14, 1908, to Sam and Beulah (Smith) Wilson.
She married Ulrich Neiger in Tillamook, Ore., in 1931.
He passed away in 1962. Alice later married Elmer Kleinke in 1973 in Ontario, Ore. With only a seventh grade education, she accomplished much in her life. Alice owned and operated a beauty shop from 1929 to 1950. She worked in hospital and school food service.
Later she managed Nyssa Manor from 1975 to 1986, when she retired.
Alice was affiliated with the Nyssa United Methodist Church and the Nyssa Senior Center. Alice was a devout Christian and active in church wherever she lived. Her faith in God defined her life and shaped her character. She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, card games, traveling both abroad and at home, reading, cooking, entertaining, dancing, singing and music.
Alice is survived by: her son Rex Neiger and his wife Carol, of Woodburn, Ore.; her two daughters, Barbara Chadwick and her husband Royce, of Prineville, Ore., Janelle Seward and her husband Dean, of Ontario, Ore., and her sister, Lois Biggs, seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Ulrich Neiger and Elmer Kleinke.
