Lola DeGree


   Lola (Backlund) DeGree of Bend, Ore passed away on Oct. 18, 2006 at the age of 73 to ovarian cancer.
   There will be a Memorial Mass held Saturday, Oct. 21 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Bend at noon.
   Lola was born July 8, 1933 in Kalispell, Montana to Ole and Eldora (Neville) Backlund.
   She married Kenneth DeGree March 8, 1998.
   She received her education in Prineville and Portland, where she received a degree in cosmetology. She lived most of her life in central Oregon, including several years in Izee. When she retired she returned to Bend where she worked as a hair stylist for many years.
   She was full of life and enjoyed many things: golfing, fishing, traveling, dancing and spending time with her children, grandchildren and many friends; she was an accomplished painter and won blue ribbons on many of her portraits and landscapes.
   She and Ken spent most of their winters at Ivy Ranch in Thousand Palms, Calif., where they had a home on a golf course.
   Survivors include: her husband Kenneth of Bend, Ore.; son Darrel Dodson of Prineville; daughter Kimberly Hansen of Vancouver, Wash.; sister Donna Johnston of Canyon City, Ore.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Center, 2075 NE Wyatt Ct., Bend, OR 97701.
   Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home of Bend is in charge of arrangements.
