John Parrott

John Nicholas Parrott passed away on April 13, 2008, after a long fight with pancreatic cancer.
There will be no services or viewing.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be announced at a later date. Mr. Parrott was born to Samuel and Mary Parrott in Blythe, Calif., during an earthquake on Dec. 26, 1934.
Growing up, John was a Boy Scout, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in Petaluma, Calif. He served and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps.
After his discharge, he was a journeyman painter for a local contractor, and later worked for the U.S. Army Security Agency at the Two Rock Station Ranch in Petaluma, Calif.
John continued working at the Two Rock Station Ranch under the U.S. Coast Guard. He lived in Prineville, Ore., from 1992 to 1995.
John was a man with many interests. He loved animals, belonged to a spelunking club in San Francisco, and tried to interest children in caving and rock hunting in the hills. John felt it was important to get children out in nature and away from television, computers and other items. John and Donna always had dogs in their home.
They both volunteered at the local animal shelter for many years. Both are members of YAPS, Yerington Animal Protection Society.
Mr. Parrott was a very kind, patient, and loving man who treated everyone with respect.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
