Robert “Bob” Schifferer, a Prineville resident, passed away on May 29, 2013. He was 84 years old.
Bob was born in Turner, Ore. on Nov. 11, 1928 to John and Mary Schifferer. He joined the Army in 1953.
He was a farmer in the Turner area raising prunes, cherries, sheep, and cattle until his retirement in 1991. Bob moved to Prineville and continued to work raising cattle and crops on the family farm. In 2000, he was the Grand Marshall of the Turner lamb and wool show.
He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Marie Smith-Schifferer of Prineville, Ore.; brother, Carl Schifferer and wife Gerda of Turner, Ore.; sisters, Dorothy Wilson and Margaret McRae and husband Alan; sons, Steve Smith of Eugene, Ore., Doug Smith and wife Carol of Prineville, Ore., and Dan Smith and wife Carla of Bend, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jack Schifferer.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the St. Vincent de Paul or charity of one’s choice.
A funeral service was held at Prineville Funeral Home on Monday June 3, 2013 at 1 p.m. with a committal following at Juniper Haven Cemetery.
