Viola Slinkard

Viola Mae Slinkard, a Prineville resident, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at her home in Prineville, Ore.
   She was 78 years old.
   Graveside services were Monday, Oct. 16, at Juniper Haven Cemetery in Prineville.
   A viewing was held on Monday at Prineville Funeral Home.
   Pastor Trudy Roberts of Word of Victory Church in Redmond, Ore., officiated.
   Viola was born in Granada, Colo., on Oct. 4, 1928 to George and Cleo (Gowing) Oyler. She attended school in Colorado, graduating from high school in Walsh, Colo.
   On Oct. 5, 1947, in Syracuse, Kansas, she married Don Slinkard. In 1978 they moved to Prineville from Kinzua, Ore.
   She was a member of the Word of Victory Church in Redmond, Ore.
   She loved painting, gardening, and spending time with her nieces and nephews and her great- nieces and nephews.
   Viola is survived by: three brothers Paul (Mavis) Oyler of Redmond, Ore., John (Cletus) Oyler of Siolam Springs, Ark., and Edward (Pat) Oyler of Independence, Kansas; and one sister, Mary Tucker of Cherryville, Kansas.
    She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Gary Slinkard, eight sisters and one brother.
   Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society of Oregon. Arrangements are in the care of the Prineville Funeral Home.
