James Jones

James Lester Jones passed away Nov. 7, 2006 at his home in Powell Butte.
   He was 63 years old. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
   James was born August 25, 1943 to Sherman and Gladys (Larkin) Jones in Prineville, Ore. He attended school at Crook County High in Prineville, Ore. After high school he joined the U.S. Army where he served three years. James spent time in Germany and was honorably discharged as a sergeant in October of 1966. He then started working for Les Schwab Tire Centers in Prineville, Oregon and ended his career as a manager in Springfield, Oregon after 36 years of service.
   James married his childhood sweetheart Velda McClellan June 21, 1996 in Lakeview, Ore.
   James enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, rock hounding, and spending time with his children and grandchildren and his dog, Little Bit and his cat, Bebe.
   James was a member of BPOE #1814 in Prineville, Ore.; Prineville American Legion Post #29; American Hunters Association; Oregon Sheriff's Association and the Arthritis Foundation.
   James is survived by: his wife Velda Jones of Powell Butte, Ore.; his daughter, Tracy Jo and husband Jess Hodges of Woodburn, Ore.; his sons Jay Dee Jones of Pasco, Wash.; Rick and wife Linda Saunders of Oregon city, Ore.; Randy and wife Rita McClellan of Prineville, Ore.; and two brothers, LeRoy Jones of Townsend, Mont.; Donald Jones of Redmond, Ore.; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandson
   He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother David Jones. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Whispering Pines Funeral Home is in charge of these arrangements.
