James Anderson

James Aaron Anderson, a Prineville resident passed away on Monday, Nov. 2, 2009. He was 85 years old.

A Memorial Service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore. on Monday Nov. 16 at 1 p.m.

James was born in Long Beach, Calif. on Feb. 6, 1924 to James Arthur & Olive (Potter) Anderson.

He attended and graduated High School in Long Beach, Calif.

James married Dorothy Fowler in Long Beach, Calif. on Nov. 24, 1972.

He served as a Torpedo man 3rd Class in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945.

He worked for Douglas Aircraft Company as a machinist prior to entering the U.S. Navy.

James also worked for U.S. Postal Service for a short time, and then worked as a steam fitter for the Long Beach Naval ship yard; retiring in 1973. James moved to Prineville in 1981.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Prineville, and Life member of the Disabled Veterans of America.

James loved animals tremendously and cared for and fed them whether they were wild or a pet.

James is survived by his wife Dorothy; his step-sons, Gary and his wife Bonnie Richards of Sandy, Oregon, Michael Richards of Prineville; step-daughter Diane and her husband Michael Uppman of Monterey, Calif.; and several grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
