Donald Miltenberger

Donald William Miltenberger, 85, of Alfalfa died Nov. 6, 2006, of natural causes.
   There will be a public service at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at the Powell Butte Church, with a private graveside service.
   Miltenberger was born on June 18, 1921, to Howard C. and Minnie (Gregg) Miltenberger. He graduated from La Pine High School in 1939 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946. He married Jeanne R. Johnston on May 27, 1949, in Bend.
   Mr. Miltenberger worked as a rancher. He was a member of the Oregon Cattleman's Association and a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge. He was a founding member and was on the Board of Directors of the Hampton Butte Grazing Coop, a member of the Alfalfa School Board, the Redmond Veterans of Foreign Wars, served on the Board of Directors of the Central Oregon Coop, the Central Oregon Irrigation District Board and the Deschutes County Fair Board.
   Miltenberger enjoyed salmon fishing, deer and elk hunting.
   Survivors include: his wife, Jeanne Miltenberger of Alfalfa; son Kenneth H. Miltenberger of Alfalfa and daughter Marilyn J. McFarlane of Powell Butte.
   He was preceded in death by his father, mother and two brothers. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2350 Oakmont Way, Suite 200, Eugene, OR 97401 or to the OSU College of Agricultural Sciences, 126 Strand Agriculture Hall, Corvallis OR 97331-2212.
   Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home of Bend handled the arrangements.
