Rica Best, a Prineville resident passed away on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012.She was 85 years old.
At her request. no local services will be held. Private burial will be in New Mexico.
Rica was born in Ordway, Colo. on April 19, 1926 to Ramon and Delores (Lola) Chavez. She was raised in Albuquerque, N.M.
She married Clarence Lowell Best in Albuquerque, N.M. in 1945. She moved to Prineville in 1957 and lived there off and on ever since. She raised her children in Prineville.
She was a member of the Catholic Church.
Rica enjoyed watching TV, embroidering, traveling, and going to Kah-Nee-Ta.
Rica is survived by her daughters, Wanda Ellen Moore and Octava Yvonne Best-Beck (Charles) – all of Prineville; sisters, Amelia and Delores Garcia, both of Albuquerque, N.M.; 15 grandchildren; numerous step- grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren .
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother; three daughters, Joan Atkins, Clara Johnston, and Cody Strause; two sons, Calvin and Randy Best; and one grandson, Jeremy Lee Naef.
Arrangements are in the care of Prineville Funeral Home.
