Lawrence "Monte" Lamonte Beard, formerly of Prineville, Ore., died April 18, 2008, at the age of 84.
A memorial was held on April 26 at the Prineville American Legion hall.
Mr. Beard was born on Aug. 29, 1923, in Pine City, Minn., to Fred C. and Gertrude (Proctor) Beard.
He married Juanita Beard on March 11, 1946, in Elko, Nev., and worked for the U.S. Postal Service.
Mr. Beard enjoyed gardening, fishing, woodworking, cooking, spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include: his spouse Juanita Beard of Prineville; sons Larry and Bill Beard.
Other survivors include: his daughters Marie Mowers, Wanda Beard and Mary Quantrille; brothers Fred and Charles Beard; sister June Longmire; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
