Roundup Board deserves a round of thanks

It's Roundup time!
By Vance W. Tong
It's many a small town that has its own special celebration. In Grangeville, Idaho, it's Border Days.
In Goldendale, Wash., it's Community Days.
In Federal Way, Wash., it's Family Fest.
For Prineville, of course, it's the Crooked River Roundup.
In each of these cases, the success of the event is dependent upon the organizers. Without them, the Roundup would fade into obscurity and eventually fade away.
Consequently, the Board, and countless other volunteers whose efforts often go unsung, deserve a bit of praise. A word of thanks.
So when you're enjoying the parade, rodeo, horse races or simply filling your face with the great tasting food, take a moment to think about who makes it all possible. And when you see one of the board members in their white shirts or their spiffy new vests stop and let them know that you appreciate their efforts.
Only by supporting active community involvement can events like the Crooked River Roundup continue to get better each year.
