The Crook County High School track and field team hosted their annual community track meet on Saturday.
"It was a good team-builder," said Head Coach Ernie Brooks.
The high school track team was divided into a blue and a gold squad for the meet and approximately 35 community members also participated.
"It was fun, but in the future, it is something that we should do early in the year," Brooks said.
Team members selected their own events for the meet and were not limited to four events like traditional high school track meets. The gold team took advantage of being able to run more than four events to win the meet with 172.5 points. The blue team finished with 167.5 points, while the community team scored 57 points and members of the Crook County Middle School track team scored five points.
Probably the highlight of the meet was the hurdle relay, which saw teams of four each run 100-meter legs over low hurdles.
Seth Tooley had a good throwing day for Crook County, winning the shot put with a career best 42-10 1/5 inch throw to defeat Brooks, who finished second. Tooley also had a personal best throw of 131-09 to finish third in the discus behind Mark Blomquist, who threw 134-08, and Brooks.
David Parks won the 60-meters, 100-meters, 200-meters and high jump on the day, as well as placing in five additional events. Scott Elliott opened at 13-09 in the pole vault and cleared it on his first attempt to win the pole vault.
On the girl's side, Kady Stafford was a multiple winner, finishing first in the shot put, discus and javelin and finishing in second place in the 60-meter dash.
The Cowboys have their final tune-up before district today when they travel to Redmond for a three-way meet with Redmond and West Salem beginning at 3:30 p.m.
