Kelley Thurman also had an outstanding race, finishing eighth in the in the junior race with a time of 11:49. Claire DeVoe of Lincoln won the race in a time of 10:51.

“That’s the best time that Thurman has run,” Smith said. “I was real happy with both her and Foley. They are ready to roll.”

Also running for the Cowgirls were Katie Wood, who finished 63rd in the junior race with a time of 14:15, and Samantha Pepper, who wound up 62nd in the freshman race with a time of 15:37.
