What’s Brewing? will take place on Wednesday, March 20, from 7 to 8 a.m., at Meadow Lakes Restaurant. This week’s speaker will be Dean Noyes, school bond PAC chairman, who will be discussing “The School Bond Measure 7-61 – What, When, “Where, Why Now?”

The Rotary Club of Crook County and Horizon Broadcasting will be hosting their annual Dollars for Scholars Radiothon on Monday, April 1. This is the annual fundraiser to benefit Crook County High School graduates in their pursuit of a higher education. You can tune in at 690 AM and 96.9 FM KRCO, who contributes the airtime for the Radiothon. Jim Schoebel, Dave Clemens, local Rotary Club of Crook County members, and a few surprise guests will the on-air personalities for the day.

The event runs from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and broadcasts live from the Bowman Museum Building, where they will be playing song requests and reading local businesses’ advertisements who have contributed to the Rotary Scholarship Fund.

Patsy Owens of RE/MAX Out West Realty, who has worked in real estate for more than 28 years, was recently awarded with the honor of qualifying for the RE/MAX 100% Club Award for 2012. This award honors agents who have successfully earned at least $100,000 commissions in 2012. Only 18 percent of all RE/MAX affiliates earned this prestigious award.

Goodwill will be having a grand opening on March 28, at their new store, located at 2067 N. Highway 97, “Goodwill Industries of the Columbia Willamette is eager to expand its involvement in Central Oregon,” says Goodwill C.E.O. Michael Miller.

The new facility will include a Job Connection office for community members looking for free job services. The facility will be barrier-free, clean, bright, and modern. To serve customers better, the new, larger building will be purposely designed for an effective donation and shopping experience and be a model of accessibility. The new facility will create 10 to 15 new Goodwill positions, and persons interested in applying may pick up a job application at the store or go to www.meetgoodwill.org and click on “find a job.”

When a donation is sold 94 cents of every retail dollar provides vocational opportunities — including jobs, vocational training, and job-placement services — to people with barriers to employment. Last year, GICW provided services to more than 40,000 individuals in the Pacific Northwest with barriers to employment.
