Crook County Fire and Rescue responded to the structure fire yesterday at 7700 S.W. Stillman Road.

The call came in at 1:06 a.m. As reported, crews arrived to find a single-wide mobile home (with addition) fully involved in flames. The couple renting the home escaped through a bedroom window and were transported by ambulance to a hospital.

The cause will remain undetermined; several points of interest were unable to be proven due to the degree of destruction incurred. The renters did not have insurance and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

The couple reported going to bed around 10:30 p.m. The man was woken up to the smell of smoke. He opened the bedroom door to the living room and was overwhelmed by smoke and heat. As we know, the couple made exit through a bedroom window. About that time a neighbor heard cracking noises saw the fire and called 911.
