Calvin “Cal” Catlett

Calvin “Cal” Burnis Catlett, 86, formally of Prineville, passed away on Sept. 30, 2012 in Tucson, Ariz. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012 at the Whispering Pines Funeral Home Chapel.

Cal was born on Feb. 2, 1926 in Tuskahoma, Okla. to Rufus and Mamie (Dunlap) Catlett. He attended school in Tuskahoma, Anderson Creek, Okla. and Yawnish, Okla. through eighth grade; he and his family then moved to Phoenix, Ariz.

He served in the US Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946. Calvin then moved to Ventura, Calif. and was married. He ranched in Idaho, then moved back to California before moving to Oregon. He worked as a body and fender man for 23 years before he started Cal Catlett Real Estate in Prineville until his retirement in 1988.

Cal enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with church friends and family. He also attended missionary training school in Bend.

Cal is survived by his daughter, Toni Jones of Tucson, Ariz.; son, Ed Ruiz of Mission Viejo, Calif.; brother, James Catlett of Ojai, Calif.; sister, Virginia Williamson of Ojai, Calif.; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
