Cowboys shut out by StormSummit overpowers Crook County 9-0October 08, 2012 The Summit Storm overpowered Crook County 9-0 Thursday in an Intermountain Hybrid Conference boys soccer matchup. “We still have a lot of work to do,” said Crook County head coach Joel Carrillo. “But we are making progress every day.” The Storm controlled the ball for much of the match. In spite of Summit’s dominating time of possession, Crook County was able to hold the Storm scoreless for the first 11 minutes of the match. The Storm finally got on the board 11 minutes into the match on a goal by Austin Cole. The Storm scored four more goals in the half, then coasted to the easy win. Cole and teammate Miguel Paez each scored a pair of goals for Summit, while Dalio Losch, Tristan Simoneau, Cal Aylward, Ralf Neuschmied, and Glenn Sherman each scored a goal for the visiting Storm. In spite of the shut out, Carrillo was still pleased with his team’s overall performance. “Our defense is progressing a lot,” Carrillo said. “After this, we will start building midfielders. I’m so happy with how things went today.” With the victory, the Storm raised their record to 7-1-1 overall while Crook County fell to 1-7. The Cowboys are back in action today when they host the Mountain View Cougars in a 4:30 p.m. contest. Mountain View (4-4-1) won the previous meeting between the two teams 13-0. |
