Storm dominates CowgirlsSummit rolls to 14-0 victory in match at Crook CountyOctober 08, 2012 Thursday afternoon, the Summit Storm showed just why they are ranked No. 2 in the latest OSAA Class 5A girls soccer power rankings. The Storm overpowered the host Crook County Cowgirls, taking a 14-0 victory in an Intermountain Hybrid Conference matchup. “I think they are that good,” said Crook County head coach Rich Abrams. “But we were missing some starters and had to put players into positions that they have never played before.” Abrams added that even some of the players that were on the field were sick. Summit scored their first goal just 48 seconds into the match. The Storm didn’t score again until nearly 15 minutes later. “We tried to hold them and it just takes a lot of energy to hold a team that is that good,” Abrams said. “We did for about 20 minutes after they scored that initial goal, but then we just did not have it.” The Storm held an 8-0 lead by halftime, and continued to extend the lead throughout the match. Christina Edwards and Hadlie Plummer each scored three goals for the Storm (7-0-2), while Raja Char added a pair of goals. Presley Quon, Marina Johnannesen, Lily Hanson, Brianna Katter, Rachel Estopare, and Morgan Caldwell also scored for the Storm. Char and Plummer also recorded three assists apiece in the match. Crook County (1-6) hosts Mountain View today in a 3 p.m. match. |
