October is community food drive month

October 08, 2012

Approximately 70 Bank Branch locations throughout Central Oregon will be accepting both food and monetary donations for the entire month of October for NeighborImpact’s Food Bank. The food drive is sponsored by The Risk Management Association (RMA), East Cascades Chapter, which serves the Financial Services Industry. The local board and volunteers from RMA decided to hold this large community food drive, called “Local Banks, Local Needs” as a show of support for the community and in response to increasing numbers of people accessing emergency food in the region. Currently, that number is at 20,000 individuals every month.

Bank customers and employees are being encouraged to drop off nonperishable food items or monetary donations at any of the following local banks in Crook County; Bank of the Cascades, Home Federal Bank, South Valley Bank, U.S. Bank, and Wells Fargo, between Oct. 1 and Oct. 31.

For more information regarding the “Local Banks, Local Needs” food drive, please contact Sandy Klein at NeighborImpact, 541-548-2380 x148, or e mail sandyk@neigborimpact.org.
