Barbara J. ClarkOctober 11, 2012 Barbara J. Clark passed away on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 at her home in Prineville. Barbara was born in Lomita, Calif. on Aug. 22, 1927, to her parents Clifford and Gladys Bergon. She was one of eight children, raised in southern California. When she turned 18 years of age in 1945, she married her husband, Alva G. Clark. Barbara and Al lived in California until 1964, when they bought and moved to their ranch in Mitchell. Over the next 46 years, Barbara was actively involved in the Mitchell Assembly of God Church. During that time, she also worked at the Wheeler County Trading Post, the small general store in Mitchell for over 30 years. If she wasn’t working at the store, she would be helping Al on the ranch, or, tending a large garden, canning hundreds of quarts of produce, or gathering wood for their wood stoves for the winter; or, you might find her cutting pieces of material for her latest quilt she was working on. Barbara was known by all for her hospitality, generosity, her love for people, and her love for Jesus. In 2006, Al and Barbara sold their ranch and moved to Prineville, where Barbara resided until her death. Barbara is survived by two sons, Trenton of La Grande, Ore., Eric of Olympia, Wash., and one daughter, Dianna Mercer of Prineville; seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Her husband Al preceded her in death in 2009. There will be a memorial service held at the Redmond Assembly of God Church, 1865 W. Antler Ave. in Redmond, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012. Friends and family are welcome to attend the celebration of her life. Deschutes Memorial Chapel is entrusted with Barbara's arrangements. |
