The Loggers dropped a tough match to Adrian on Friday, but rebounded to knock off Long Creek on Saturday.

“I am very proud of the way the girls stayed right with Adrian on Friday,” said head coach Sandy Goodson. “They have improved and done well this year.”

Adrian swept Mitchell 25-18, 25-16, 25-15. However, the Antelopes who are currently 13-4 overall, and 7-0 in league play are one of the top teams in the state.

In spite of the illness and injuries the Loggers were able to top the Mountaineers 25-22, 25-16, 20-25, 22-25, 15-4 in a marathon five-set match.

The Loggers topped off the week by defeating a JV?team from Ukiah 25-20, 22-25, 15-8 in their final match of the week.

With the wins, Mitchell is now 4-4 overall and 2-3 in league play while Long Creek is now 5-7 overall and 2-4 in league.

The Loggers are on the road today to take on the Crane Mustangs (5-7 overall, 4-1 league), then are at home on Saturday against the Prairie City Panthers (6-6, 2-2). Both matches are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

“Crane will be a tough game and then we play Prairie City on Saturday so we have two very tough games in a row,” Goodson said. “
