Old McKenzie Pass closing Nov. 9

Maintenance managers with the Oregon Department of Transportation have made the decision to close the Old McKenzie Pass Highway, OR 242, for the winter/snow season effective immediately due to higher than anticipated snowfall.

This is an update to a decision made yesterday to close the highway next week. ODOT’s records indicate that the earliest closure of the Old McKenzie Pass Highway occurred on Oct. 18, 1996. The latest closure happened on Jan. 10, 1939. The closure for 2011 occurred on Nov. 14.
