Duncan, Loper named all-leagueFormer Crook County standouts both earn Cascade Collegiate Conference honorsNovember 26, 2012 A pair of former Crook County High School volleyball players have earned Cascade Collegiate Conference recognition. Both players are currently at Eastern Oregon University. Kaitlyn Duncan, a senior, earned first-team honors as a libero. Duncan finished the season with 648 digs to lead the conference in that category. Duncan ranked ninth in the nation in digs per game, and 234th in total digs. Meanwhile, Casey Loper, a sophomore, also made the conference first-team squad. Loper, a middle blocker led Eastern Oregon in blocks with 117 and was second on the team in kills with 317. Eastern Oregon finished the season with a 23-7 overall mark and a 14-4 Cascade Collegiate Conference record. The team just missed qualifying for nationals as they fell 25-27, 27-29, 20-25 to College of Idaho in the conference tournament finals. Eastern Oregon head coach Kaki (McLean) Morehead, who also graduated from Crook County High School, earned her 100th career win during the season and was named Cascade Collegiate Conference coach of the year. |
