Loggers defeat Saints 43-31Mitchell uses solid defensive effort to earn the winDecember 17, 2012 The Mitchell High School boys basketball team did just enough to win as they held on to defeat the Trinity Lutheran Saints 43-31 Tuesday night in Mitchell. “It was an OK game,” said Mitchell boys head coach Cy Miller following the contest. The Loggers jumped out to an 18-13 first-quarter lead and extended their lead to 31-21 by halftime. Mitchell struggled to score in the second half, managing just 12 points in the half. However, that didn’t matter as the Saints could muster just 10 second-half points of their own. Brett Domenighini led Mitchell in scoring with 19 points in the contest while Bryce Jorgensen and Toby Lindquist added eight points each. Trinity Lutheran did much of their scoring from inside as 6-6 post Nate Carpenter scored 18 points against the shorter Mitchell squad. However, the Loggers were able to play solid defense on the Saint guards and make it difficult for them to get the ball to Carpenter. With the win, the Loggers raised their record to 3-2 while the Saints fell to 1-5 with the loss. December 11 at Mitchell Trinity Lutheran (31) — Nate Carpenter 18, G. Phillis 8, Aklyama 2, L.
