Home damaged in New Year's Eve fire
January 03, 2013 Crook County Fire and Rescue responded to a fire last night on Southeast Willowdale Road at 6:24 p.m. with reports of occupants inside the house. Fire crews arrived to find the 800-square-foot home evacuated and smoke filled with greater amounts of smoke venting from both gable-end attic vents. Crews made access to the attic from inside and extinguished the fire that was burning around electrical wiring, roof trusses, and insulation. The home incurred damages estimated at $20,000.00 against a market value of approximately $50,000.00. The Crook County Sheriff's Department called the Central Oregon Red Cross to assist the reported four people living in the house. The occupants had taken shelter in a fifth-wheel trailer that was parked behind the home. The cause was determined to be from overloaded electrical wiring. Crook County Fire and Rescue is not aware of any contact information for possible family assistance at this time. |
