Ruby MitchellJanuary 03, 2013 Ruby Mitchell, 90, passed away December 30, 2012 surrounded by family in Prineville, Oregon. Funeral services will be held Friday January 4, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Whispering Pines Funeral Home in Prineville, Oregon. She will be laid to rest at Juniper Haven Cemetery following the service. Ruby Verna Florence Stark was born June 16, 1922 in Lebanon, Wisconsin to Emily and Henry Stark. She lived in Wisconsin with her eight siblings until she joined the Women’s Army Corps in 1943. She was in the motor pool where she drove trucks, buses, and jeeps for military personnel. She was honorably discharged June 18, 1946. In June 1951 she married James F. McGuire and they moved to Prineville, Oregon where they raised their seven children. James passed away in 1959. She married Lawrence Mitchell in December 1972. Ruby was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and the Eagles. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, embroidering, playing slot machines, and shopping, but her greatest joy was raising her children and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruby is survived by her seven children and their spouses: Nancy and Bud Smith of Aumsville, OR, Sally and Randy Zanon of Arvada, CO, Susiean and Morris Cook of Prineville, OR, Steve and Joyce McGuire of Maple Valley, WA, Peggy Chambers of Bend, OR, Debbie and Larry Hargis of Prineville, OR, James and Gayle McGuire of Prineville, Or, 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Ruby is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Emily Stark, her eight siblings, her first husband James and her second husband Lawrence.
