Redmond teen uninjured in rollover crash

January 07, 2013

On Jan. 7, 2013, at 6:01 a.m., Deputies from the Crook County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a single vehicle, rollover motor vehicle crash near mile post 12 on Northwest Oneil Highway.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that a 1995 black Honda Civic, driven by Andrew McConnell, 18 years old of Redmond, lost control on the ice and left the roadway. He had been traveling towards Prineville.

The car rolled over, went through a barbed wire fence and came to rest in the canal on the south side of the highway. The canal was completely frozen at the time, and the car did not go through the ice. McConnell only suffered minor scratches, and he declined medical treatment at the scene.

McConnell was cited for driving uninsured.

The Crook County Sheriff's Office urges drivers to slow down while driving in winter conditions, and to allow extra time to your destination.
