One injured in Lamonta Crash

January 09, 2013

On January 8, 2013 at 9:18 p.m. the Crook County Sheriff's Office, Prineville Police Department, and the Crook County Fire and Rescue were dispatched to an injury motor vehicle accident on Lamonta Road near McBeth Court, two miles north of Prineville.

It was reported that a female driver with two children had hit a power pole. Upon arrival deputies and officers made contact with Cindiy Kusmider age 32, of Prineville and her two children. Ms. Kusmider sustained serious injuries during the crash and was transported to Pioneer Memorial Hospital by the Crook County Fire and Rescue.

It was determined that Ms. Kusmider was driving northbound on Lamonta Road near McBeth Court when she lost control of her 1995 Ford Explorer on the icy corner and hit a Pacific Power, power pole. Several residences in the area lost power for a short period of time and Lamonta Road was closed for a short time while power crews repaired the damaged power lines.

Ms. Kusmider's two children were not injured during the crash. Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash but no citations were issued. The Crook County Sheriff's Office urges drivers to slow down while driving in winter conditions, and to allow extra time to your destination.
