CCFR responds to house fire on SundayJanuary 14, 2013 Crook County Fire and Rescue responded to a fire yesterday Sunday on Northwest Teal Loop in Prineville. The call came in at 1:30 p.m., with reports that the fire was in an upstairs bedroom and the occupants were exiting the home. CCFR crews arrived minutes after the call to find a room and contents fire upstairs that had filled the house with smoke and self vented through an upstairs window. The fire was extinguished, but not before significant smoke and heat damage affected the entire second floor. Two of the four tenants were home at the time — a woman and her son. They were downstairs and were alerted to the fire by the smoke alarms. The woman rushed upstairs to investigate and found a fire in an upstairs bedroom and large amounts of black smoke. She called 911 and they exited the house. The losses are estimated at $30,000. Red Cross was called to assist the tenants. The cause is still under investigation. |
