LeRoy “Roy” Holdren Jr. a Prineville resident passed away on January 13, 2013 at his home in Prineville. He was 89 years old.
Roy was born in Omaha, Nebraska on February 26, 1923 to LeRoy and Gladys Holdren. He graduated with a Bachelors and Masters degree from U.N.L.V., a PhD in Psychology from the College of Humanistic Studies, and Pursued a career as a Psychotherapist.
Roy met the love of his life, Irene Elizabeth Voreyer in 1941 at a dancing class in
San Francisco. Later, after the war, they started a Dance Studio and taught dance.
He was Honorably Discharged from the Army Air Corps following World War II with the rank of S/Sgt.
Roy was a member of the American Legion - Pass Commander.
He spent much of his retirement volunteering as Hospice and councilor.
He was an avid Hunter, Reader, Teacher. Taught Psychology, Marriage and the Family classes at Las Vegas Community College.
Roy is survived by his wife of 70 years, Irene Holdren, children, Lynda (Tom) Massingham of Prineville, and Irene (Alan) Fackrell of Sweet Home, Oregon. He was preceded by a Son LeRoy Holdren III. Has 9 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Mother, Father, Brother and Sister.
The viewing will be held at Prineville Funeral Home on Friday, January 18th from 4pm-8pm. A funeral service will be held at the Prineville LDS Church on SE 2nd and Idlewood Street in Prineville, Or. on Saturday, January 19th, 10am.
