Verola Mae Pitzer Thompson

Verola Mae Pitzer Thompson, 89, of Forest Grove, OR, passed away January 10, 2013 in Hillsboro, Oregon. Verola was born in Albion, Idaho, January 17, 1924.

She married Myron (Mike) Thompson, May 13, 1939. They celebrated their 63rd anniversary before Mike passed away in 2001. He was laid to rest on Sept. 11.

Mike and Verola moved their family to Prineville from Idaho in 1955 where Mike worked for 2 years for Van’s Electric until he went to work for the Prineville Police Department. Verola worked for a time at Bank Drug and later at Welker Pharmacy in the Medical Clinic until illness prevented her from doing so.

They moved to Forest Grove in 1999 to be near their family. After her husband’s death Verola continued to live in Forest Grove. They were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Verola is survived by her son Leon Thompson of Forest Grove, and daughters, Myra Thompson Lee of Beaverton, and LaDeana Mae Bonny of LaPine, as well as six grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter in the Forest Grove area, and three nephews all living in Idaho. In addition to her husband, Verola was also preceded in death by her mother, Selena Pierce; her only sibling, Harold Gibson; and two grandsons, Mark Wimber and Steve Bonny.

Private graveside services for the immediate family were held at 10:00 am, Tuesday January 15th in Juniper Haven Cemetery where she will be interred next to her husband, mother, and grandson.
