Home destroyed in Friday evening fire

A house fire broke out in northeast Prineville on Friday evening that completely destroyed the home, but caused no injuries.

A neighbor of the residents reporoted the fire at approximately 5 p.m.

Crook County Fire and Rescue responded with two fire engines, two water tenders, an ambulance, and 12 firefighters. The Crook County Sheriff's Office also responded.

The family was not at home at the time of the fire. They were displaced, and the regional Red Cross has been notified and is assisting the family.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and no injuries were reported.
