Woman hurt in crashMedics extracted driver from the vehicle who was transported by Airlink to Bend
January 28, 2013 Sunday morning, at approximately 11:27 a.m., deputies from the Crook County Sheriff’s Office, along with medics from Crook County Fire and Rescue, were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash near milepost 11 on Northwest O’Neil Highway. Upon arrival, deputies found Merike King, 51, of Prineville trapped in her red, 1998 Chevrolet Lumina. The car was lying on the driver side. Medics from Crook County Fire and Rescue used extraction tools to free King from the car. Northwest O’Neil Highway was closed for approximately 15 minutes, allowing for the Airlink Helicopter to land and take King on board. King was transported by air to St. Charles Hospital in Bend. Further investigation determined that the right rear wheel had sheared off from the car, causing it to leave the roadway. No citations were issued. |
