Lindburg nominated for state award

Crook County High School senior Makayla Lindburg is one of the finalists for the 61st annual Oregon Sports Awards.

Lindburg, a three-time Oregon Class 4A player of the year, is one of three nominees for prep volleyball player of the year.

The awards will be presented on the evening of Feb. 10 in the Stanford Theater at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton.

Several other Central Oregon athletes are also finalists in other categories, including Bend decathlete Ashton Eaton.

For the first time in the history of the awards, voting is open to the public for finalists in all 28 Oregon Sports Awards categories.

Voting is already underway and will continue through Feb. 8.
