The Prineville Elks Lodge is again opening their doors to the public for a worthy cause this weekend on Saturday, March 9, starting at 6 p.m. They will be hosting the Bring Out The Green fundraiser to benefit Stryder Doescher and help raise funds to get Stryder his very own 4Paws for Ability Service Dog. There will be a chicken fried steak dinner followed by a silent auction, live auction, and ending the evening with dancing until your feet hurt.

In case you are not familiar with Stryders story, he is a five-year old little bundle of energy who has a rare form of epilepsy called Landau-Kleffner Syndrome. He is one only a few hundred people worldwide who have been diagnosed with this illness. His illness causes Stryder to have silent seizures constantly, most often spiking when he is asleep and can occur twice every second. These can cause permanent brain damage if not caught in time, which is where a 4Paws for Ability Service Dog can be a lifesaver for this family. A service dog can cost up to $20,000, with the one chosen for Stryder costing $13,000. The service dog will be specifically trained for Stryder’s needs and will alert the family when he is having a seizure.

So plan on attending this fundraiser, where all funds raised will be donated directly towards the selection and extensive training for a 4Paw Service Dog for Stryder.

Business after Hours will be held on Thursday, March 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Prineville Golf Club, 7120 N.E. Ochoco Highway. For more information, contact the Prineville Crook County Chamber of Commerce at 541-447-6304.
