Phyllis Marie (Lister) Ticoulat
March 14, 2013
Phyllis Marie (Lister) Ticoulat passed away March 11, 2013 at her home in Bend, Ore. at the age of 88. She was born in Portland, Ore. on Nov. 10, 1924.
She lived in Paulina on a ranch and attended school in a one-room schoolhouse in Beaver Creek. She graduated from Crook County High School in 1942. From there, she went to Oregon State College and graduated with a Business Degree in 1946. Her first job was in Portland with the State of Oregon Board of Health . Before starting work, she and a friend spent six weeks traveling the U.S.A. by train and boat with stops in Cuba and Montreal.
She met and married Bill Michael in 1947. They lived in Kansas City, Mo., Spokane and Seattle, Wash. until 1952, when they moved to Prineville and lived on the King Ranch. They had two children together, Larilu and Joy. She later married Gilbert Ticoulat in 1958, and with that relationship, she inherited four more girls whom she loved dearly as her own. During this time she worked as a secretary and then ran the Lister Ranch in Paulina after her father, Robert Lister, passed away in 1973. In 1984, she sold the King Ranch and moved to Bend. Some of the things she enjoyed were golfing, hiking, cross-stitch, knitting prayer shawls (which she donated to St. Charles), playing bridge, visiting family, her sister Louise, friends, telling stories, telling jokes, and just living life to the fullest. She was a Hospice of Bend volunteer for six years, and a member and elder for the Prineville Presbyterian Church. Phyllis was by far the best mother in the whole world and truly a wonderful friend to everyone. She is survived by her six loving daughters, Linda Overcast, and her husband Jerry, Larilu Post, and her husband George, Sharon Russell, and her husband Joe, Joy Anderson, and her husband Michael, Diane Carnahan, and her husband Virgil, and Pamela Ticoulat; Phyllis's longtime partner, Edward E. Wilson; her Chocolate Lab, Coco; her sister, Lousie Pike; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Partners in Care, 2075 N.E. Wyatt Court, Bend, OR 97701 or Prineville Presbyterian Church.
We would like to give thanks to Dr. Michael Bell, Evergreen In Home Care, Partners in Care, and the St. Charles ALS Support Group for all their wonderful support.
Services will be held at the Prineville Presbyterian Church, 1771 N.W. Madras Highway, Prineville, Ore. on Sat. March 16, at 1 p.m. with a reception following.
