Wanda Rea MaysMarch 21, 2013 Wanda Rea Mays Wanda Rea Mays 86, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013 at her home in Ochoco Village surrounded by her family. Memorial services were held on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Prineville. Deacon Janet Warner will officiate. Wanda was born in Prineville on Oct. 22, 1926 to Clifford H. Nelson and Maude (Milliorn) Nelson. She spent her life in Prineville. Wanda graduated from Crook County High School. Wanda worked as the office manager for Dr. Winitzsky for 45 years. She was active in the Soroptimist Club when they established the "Neat Repeat" and the Senior Center. Wanda was a wealth of Central Oregon history, for friends and family alike and enjoyed her tales of life here long ago. She was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church of Prineville. Wanda is survived by a brother, Cliff Nelson of Anchorage, Alaska; sister, Gwynne Montgomery of Portland, Ore; one daughter, Marsha of Prineville; four granddaughters and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Mays, and daughter, Martie Sanders. The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice and the many wonderful caregivers at Ochoco Village.
