The primary purpose of the position is to provide consultation, approval of standing orders and medical policies. May provide media statements to the public and provide input on the approach to investigating and management of communicable disease outbreak, and education to public health staff. Requires graduation from an accredited school of medicine and completion of post-graduate training in preventative medicine, public health or another clinical specialty relevant to the practice of public health. Formal academic training in public health (e.g., Masters of Public Health or equivalent) is preferred; and possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate and valid license to practice medicine in the state of Oregon.
